There are two Palma de Mallorca port cruise terminals – Muelle de Poniente and Dique del Oeste. The latter is home to the city’s premier shopping mall near the entrance at Porto Pi.

The distance from Palma de Mallorca cruise port to city center is around 8 kilometers, therefore, it’s not really walkable. The good news is, there are cruise port shuttles (€12), cheap public buses (less than €3), and taxis available (€10-15 one-way).

What to do in Palma de Mallorca if You Only Have One Day

As the capital is compact, it’s possible to see the main landmarks in one day. A wealth of attractions lie in the heart of the city, including charming historic quarters, beautiful churches, and pretty squares lined with cafes and pavement side restaurants.

Suggested Itinerary for One Day in Palma de Mallorca

Choosing the best things to see and do in Palma for 24 hours is no easy task. There are hilltop fortresses such as Bellver Castle to explore, verdant parks, beaches, and local markets procuring all kinds of gastronomic delights.

To make things easier, below, you’ll find a few ideas of where to visit, all easily accessible from Palma de Mallorca Spain cruise port.

Cathedral-Basilica of Santa Maria de Mallorca

Walk along palm-lined boulevards to Cathedral-Basilica of Santa Maria de Mallorca (also known as La Seu). The Gothic style structure is at the heart of the city and its premier attraction. The general admission price is €8-9 euros per person and includes access to the Museum of Sacred Art. If you have a few extra euros to spend, and are travelling during summer, consider paying extra to climb to the upper balcony for incredible views across the city.

Royal Palace of La Almudaina

Next to the cathedral is 14th century Royal Palace of La Almudaina. This is the king of Spain’s residence when visiting the island and a wonderful place in which to discover more of Mallorca’s rich history. The cost of entrance is around €7-8, and if you only have half-a-day to spare, it’s easy to visit both of these attractions together.

Plaça Mayor and Palma’s Historic Center

It takes less than 10 minutes to walk from the palace through the old city gates to historic Plaça Mayor. The arcaded square is home to picture-postcard houses adorned with shutters and wrought iron balconies. It’s the perfect place to shop for Mallorcan pearls and sample sobrassada - cured spiced sausage, or Mallorcan ensaimada, a sweet pastry popular with locals.

The nearby historic center mesmerizes visitors with its Moorish architecture and intriguing history. Highlights include: De Cort Square, Church of Santa Eulalia, and Parc de la Mar, with uninterrupted views of La Seu cathedral and the lagoon.
