How to Get from Athens Airport to Athens Piraeus Cruise Port

There are a multitude of ways to get from Athens airport to Piraeus cruise port. The cruise port, located outside the Greek capital, is huge, so which dock you are departing from, or arriving into, should determine which method of transport to take.

Athens Piraeus cruise port is located 12 kilometers from the centre of Athens on the west coast of the Greek mainland.

The port is designed in a U-shape, with three terminals, A -Miaoulis, B -Thermistocles and C -Alkimos, and has a total of 12 numbered gates. Most ferries to the Greek Islands tend to depart from the first 10 gates which focus on small to medium size cruise liners, and the larger cruise ships dock at gates E11 and E12.

A port shuttle bus connects Gate E7 (near the railway, Metro stations and luggage storage facilities), with gates E1, 2 and 3, and the bus times coincide with ship arrivals and departures. Taxis are also available near all the main gates, which are reasonably priced and convenient.

There is also a suburban railway station next to the Metro if you prefer to travel overground. The journey time is around one hour to Piraeus and tickets are approximately €9 per person each way.

The number X96 public bus departs from Athens International Airport to Piraeus cruise port. They run every 20-40 minutes (season dependent), and the journey takes approximately 90 minutes - however, do allow longer if travelling during rush hour. This is the most cost effective mode of transport with tickets averaging €6 per person one way, and children under the age of six travel free.
