Published on Sat Nov 18, 2023

If you’re flying into Marseille Provence Airport to hop aboard a cruise ship at Marseille cruise port, there are several ways in which you can get from the airport to port of Marseille cruise terminal.

Whether you wish to travel in style by private taxi or prefer to organise a transfer shuttle service via your cruise company, there are many options to suit your travelling needs and budget.

Where is The Cruise Port in Marseille

There are two ports in Marseille, MPCT - Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal and La Joliette Cruise Terminal operated by the Port of Marseille Fos.

Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal is located around 8 kilometres from the city centre at Môle Léon Gourret pier, near exit 5 off the A55. It is accessible by public transport with the nearest bus stop at Terminal Croisières. This port caters to large cruise ships, with several often docking here at any one time.

There are six cruise terminals, with modern amenities, car-parking (€14 maximum per day, or €140 for 10 days) and check-in zones. If travelling on one of the larger cruise liners, this will likely be your embarkation and disembarkation point.

La Joliette cruise port is in the 2nd arrondissement of Marseille close to Vieux Port and 30 minutes’ walk, or a short taxi or tram ride (€1,70) from Saint-Charles station. It is for small and medium size ships, usually departing for Corsica, Sardinia, Tunisia and Morocco.

Most cruise liners dock at J4, which is easily accessed via Joliette Metro station and its tram and bus stop.

Luggage at the Marseille Cruise Port

There are luggage drop-off points at Marseille cruise port but no storage services in the cruise terminals. If you need to store your luggage for a longer time period, you can do so at the airport or Saint-Charles railway station.

Transportation from Airport to Marseille Cruise Port

The airport lies 27 kilometres northwest of the city centre with a travelling time to MPCT of around 25 minutes by road, and 30 minutes to La Joliette cruise port.

Taxis from Marseille Airport to cruise port cost €50-75 in each direction. It’s the easiest mode of transport and can be cost effective if there is a group travelling together.

Bus from Marseille Airport to Cruise Port

Direct shuttle buses depart from the airport several times an hour for Saint-Charles train station in Marseille city centre. The journey time is 45-50 minutes and the cost around €8 - €9 one way and €15 -€16 euros for a round trip.

If you decide to take this route you can purchase tickets at the airport or online. On arrival at Saint-Charles station, hop on Line 2 of the metro - direction Bougainville, and disembark at Joliette. If you’re sailing from La Joliette, it’s just a short walk to J4 where most of the cruise liners depart.

However, if you are continuing onto the main cruise terminal, MCPT, board the No. 35 bus to Terminal Croisières. Depending on which dock your ferry is departing from, you may wish to walk or take a shuttle or taxi from here.

The port offers free shuttle buses between Môle Léon Gourret and Joliette Square metro stop, these operate every 30 minutes from 9am -5pm Friday to Monday inclusive, but times can vary during winter season.

Private Transfer Marseille Airport to Cruise Port

Many major cruise liners offer shuttle transfers from the airport or train station to the Marseille France cruise port. You can check with your cruise company if the service is available and book tickets in advance. Alternatively, a private transfer can cost around €70 for up to 4 people.
